Maģistra darbā tiek analizēta būvju informācijas modelēšanas (BIM) izmantošanas ietekme uz mazo un vidējo projektēšanas biroju konkurētspēju Latvijā. Pētījuma mērķis ir izpētīt un analizēt, vai projektēšanas biroji var uzlabot savu konkurētspēju tirgū, ieviešot BIM metodi. Mērķa sasniegšanai izvirzīti uzdevumi: analizēt BIM jēdzienu, tā būtību un pielietojumu, izpētīt konkurētspējas teorētiskos aspektus, izvērtēt nozares situāciju Latvijā un Eiropā, veikt empīrisku pētījumu par reālo situāciju BIM izmantošanā projektēšanas birojos Latvijā, noslēgumā izstrādāt secinājumus un ieteikumus. Pētījumā izmantota kombinētā pētījuma metode, apvienojot teorētisko analīzi, faktu analīzi un empīrisko pētījumu. Empīriskā daļa balstīta uz kvantitatīvo jeb aptaujas un kvalitatīvo jeb interviju palīdzību, kurās piedalījās nozares speciālisti. Autores devums ir BIM izmantošanas un konkurētspējas savstarpējās ietekmes izvērtējums Latvijas mazajos un vidējos projektēšanas birojos, identificējot galvenos ieguvumus un izaicinājumus, kā arī formulējot praktiskus ieteikumus nozares attīstībai. Darbs sastāv no trim nodaļām. Pirmajā nodaļā analizēti BIM un konkurētspējas teorētiskie aspekti. Otrajā nodaļā apskatīta nozares situācija un normatīvais regulējums Latvijā un Eiropā. Trešajā nodaļā veikts empīriskais pētījums, analizēti rezultāti un pārbaudīta izvirzītā hipotēze. Pētījuma rezultāti liecina, ka BIM izmantošana pozitīvi ietekmē projektēšanas biroju konkurētspēju, īpaši darba procesu efektivitātes, sadarbības kvalitātes un digitalizācijas attīstības aspektos. Vienlaikus teorijā bieži uzsvērtie ieguvumi, piemēram, būtisks izmaksu un laika samazinājums, netika pilnībā apstiprināti. Tāpat konstatēts, ka organizatoriskā pielāgošanās spēja uzņēmumos ir nevienmērīga, kas ierobežo BIM pilnvērtīgu ieviešanu. Izvirzītā hipotēze apstiprinās daļēji. Hypothesis: The use of BIM methods can increase the competitiveness of design firms. This master’s thesis analyzes the impact of using Building Information Modeling (BIM) on the competitiveness of small and medium-sized design firms in Latvia. The objective of the study is to investigate and analyze whether design firms can improve their competitiveness in the market by implementing BIM. The following tasks have been set to achieve this objective: to analyze the concept of BIM, its essence and application; to examine the theoretical aspects of competitiveness; to assess the situation in the industry in Latvia and Europe; to conduct an empirical study on the actual situation regarding BIM use in design firms in Latvia; and, finally, to draw conclusions and make recommendations. The study employs a mixed-methods approach, combining theoretical analysis, fact analysis, and empirical research. The empirical part is based on quantitative (surveys) and qualitative (questionnaires) data, with industry specialists participating in the research. The author’s contribution is an assessment of the mutual influence of BIM adoption and competitiveness in small and medium-sized design firms in Latvia, identifying the main benefits and challenges, as well as formulating practical recommendations for the sector’s development. The thesis consists of three chapters. The first chapter analyzes the theoretical aspects of BIM and competitiveness. The second chapter examines the industry situation and regulatory framework in Latvia and Europe. The third chapter presents an empirical study, analyzes the results, and tests the proposed hypothesis. The results of the study indicate that the use of BIM positively impacts the competitiveness of design firms, particularly in terms of work process efficiency, the quality of collaboration, and the advancement of digitalization. At the same time, benefits often emphasized in theory, such as significant cost and time reductions, were not fully confirmed. It was also found that the capacity for organizational adaptation varies across companies, which limits the full implementation of BIM. The proposed hypothesis is partially confirmed.
