Fotogrāfijā redzams Lielās ielas 16 nams (ar noapaļoto stūri), kur 1940. gadā veikalnieks E. Gerhards atvēris alus noliktavu ar modernām iepildīšanas mašīnām. 1949. gadā tur darbojās Ventspils mežsaimniecības strādnieku apgādes bāzes kafejnīca-restorāns. Vēl tur atradusies kafejnīca „Māra” ar kūku cehu.
