Darbs sastāv no vairākām daļām, kurās aplūkoti vēja enerģijas teorētiskie aspekti, vēja
elektrostaciju vēsturiskā attīstība, vēja parku izveides priekšnoteikumi, ietekme uz vidi,
elektroenerģijas tirgus darbības principi un vēja enerģijas attīstības perspektīvas Latvijā.
Pētījuma rezultāti liecina, ka vēja elektrostaciju attīstība Latvijā var sniegt nozīmīgus
ekonomiskus un vides ieguvumus, veicinot enerģētisko neatkarību un ilgtspējīgas enerģētikas
attīstību. Vienlaikus secināts, ka projektu ekonomiskā efektivitāte lielā mērā ir atkarīga no
elektroenerģijas tirgus cenu svārstībām un investīciju apjoma.

Abstract (english):
The author of the master's thesis is Sonora Mangulsone, and the title of the thesis is “The
role of wind power plants in the development of sustainable energy and the assessment of its
benefits in Latvia”. During the development of the thesis, a hypothesis was put forward that the
development of wind power plants in Latvia provides both economic and environmental
benefits, thus significantly contributing to the development of a sustainable energy system in
the country.
The object of the study is wind power plants, while the subject of the study is the economic,
social and environmental aspects of the development of wind power plants, as well as their impact
on the development of sustainable energy in Latvia.
The aim of the thesis is to assess the role of wind power plants in the development of
sustainable energy in Latvia, to analyze their economic and environmental benefits, and
development prospects and economic efficiency. In order to achieve the stated goal of the thesis,
the main tasks of the thesis were determined: to analyze the economic, social and environmental
benefits of wind power plants; to assess the prerequisites for the development of wind farms,
development prospects and main challenges in Latvia and to conduct an economic assessment of
the wind power plant, analyzing the investment payback period and economic efficiency in various
electricity price scenarios.
Research methods used in the development of the study: analysis of scientific literature,
analysis of regulatory enactments and statistical data, comparative method, evaluation of economic
indicators, as well as analysis of secondary data. The author's contribution to the evaluation of the
problem under study is manifested in the compilation and evaluation of the economic and
environmental benefits of wind power plants, as well as in the performance of practical economic
calculations, analyzing the payback period of investments in various electricity price scenarios.
The work consists of several parts, which examine the theoretical aspects of wind energy,
the historical development of wind power plants, the prerequisites for the creation of wind parks,
the impact on the environment, the principles of the electricity market and the prospects for the
development of wind energy in Latvia.
The results of the study show that the development of wind power plants in Latvia can
provide significant economic and environmental benefits, promoting energy independence and the
development of sustainable energy. At the same time, it is concluded that the economic efficiency
of projects largely depends on fluctuations in electricity market prices and the volume of
investments.
The work contains 52 pages, 2 appendices and references to 70 sources of information.
