- La citoyenneté c’est la qualité du citoyen, elle réside dans son action sur l’évolution de la cité. La maîtrise de l’information semble prédisposer le citoyen à assumer pleinement cette citoyenneté. Pour cela, le citoyen doit comprendre ce qui se fait et se dit dans la cité afin d’apporter sa contribution à la vie publique. Alors qu’il n’a pas toujours cette culture de l’information qui lui est nécessaire, ni les compétences informationnelles requises. À l'heure de « la société des savoirs partagées » l'information est devenue le moteur essentiel du mode de production des sociétés contemporaines. Ainsi, la maîtrise de l’information constitue un enjeu de taille, dont le citoyen doit comprendre le processus d’acquisition. Car, la société de l’information constitue un cadre qui suscite la question de l’apport du citoyen. Dès lors, une formation à la maîtrise de l’information s’impose, et les bibliothèques et médiateurs de l’information sont interpelés.
- Abstract (latvian):
- Citizenship is what characterizes the citizen. It lives in his interaction with the evolving City, that is, civil society. Information literacy appears to prepare the citizen to fully assume his citizenship. To do so, the citizen must understand what is being done and said in civil society, in order to make his contribution to public life. But then, he does not always have that information culture which he needs, nor the necessary information competencies. In this time of “the social network of shared knowledge” information has become the essential engine of productivity of contemporary societies. Thus, information literacy constitutes a sizable challenge, a competency which the citizen must understand how to acquire. For the information society is a framework which raises the question of the citizen’s input. Henceforward, an education in information literacy is compulsory, and libraries and information providers are under interrogation.
