Viena no pirmajām tā sauktā poētiskā Rīgas stila filmām, kas turklāt raksturo jaunu pieeju darba organizācijai un radikālas pārmaiņas autoru attieksmē pret filmas varoņiem un vidi – lai izveidotu īso filmiņu par zvejnieku dzīvi, autori ciematā nodzīvoja visu vasaru, iepazīstot cilvēkus un pieradinot tos pie kameras, nevis vienreiz aizbrauca, uzņēma paviršu reportāžu un steigšus aizbrauca, kā to darīja iepriekšējās paaudzes dokumentālisti. Tādējādi filmas materiāls ir daudz personiskāks un dziļāks, pārdomātāks un nemākslotāks; tas raksturo jaunā stila autoru patieso interesi par cilvēku, nevis tā sociālajām vai profesionālajām lomām.

A poetic documentary observation of everyday life in a Latvian fishing village, where centuries-old traditions and wind-hardened men and women live alongside the optimism of new construction and the smiling faces of the new generation.

This is one of the first so-called Riga Poetic Style documentary films, which also heralded a new approach to filmmaking and radical changes in the attitude of authors to the heroes in their films and the environment. In order to make this short film about the life of fisherfolk, the filmmakers lived in the village for a whole summer, getting to know people and helping them get used to the camera, instead of visiting once, filming a superficial report and leaving hurriedly, as was the style for documentary filmmakers of the previous generation. As a result, the material is deeper and more personal, more considered and less artificial; it characterises the genuine interest possessed by the authors of this new style – in people, rather than in their social or professional roles.
