This Bachelor’s thesis, titled “Ideal Customer Profile Validation for a Software
as a Service Company,” examines and validates the Ideal Customer Profile (ICP) for a
Latvian early-stage Software as a Service (SaaS) company in the professional events
industry called “The Crowd SIA”. The research aims to determine whether the United
Kingdom market corresponds closest compared to the German and French markets.
The author analyses SaaS business models, validation methods and market
entry strategies, and sets ICP criteria for “The Crowd SIA” to evaluate the selected
European markets. The thesis explains why ICP validation is important for SaaS
companies, especially those from smaller economies.
Mixed qualitative and quantitative methods are used in the research. Secondary
data analysis evaluates professional event markets, industry structure, and event
characteristics in the United Kingdom, Germany, and France. Primary data is gathered
through semi-structured interviews with professional event organisers. Thematic and
comparative analyses evaluate ICP alignment and customer-readiness indicators.
The author Alise Plotova develops and applies an ICP validation framework for
an early-stage SaaS company and provides practical recommendations for “The Crowd
SIA” international expansion strategy.
The thesis is organised into three chapters, the first one covers theory on SaaS
business models, ICP, customer development, and market entry. The second explains
the research methodology, “The Crowd SIA”, the events industry, and the ICP criteria.
The third presents the findings, compares markets, and evaluates ICP fit and the
research hypothesis.
The study concludes that the event market in the United Kingdom aligns
closest with the ICP criteria of “The Crowd SIA”. The main reasons are event topic
and size match, language accessibility, and customer openness to adopting new event
technologies. The findings prove that structured ICP validation can reduce
market-entry risks and support strategic growth and decisions in early-stage SaaS
companies.
The information sources used include business management literature (Blank,
Ries, Osterwalder, De Villiers, etc.) and industry data from Statista, Eventbrite, and

references, and 1 annex.
Anotācija (latviešu):
Šis bakalaura darbs ar nosaukumu „Ideālā klienta profila validācija
programmatūras kā pakalpojuma uzņēmumam” pēta ideāla klienta profila esamību
jaunuzņēmumam “The Crowd SIA”, kas darbojas profesionālo pasākumu nozarē.
analīze novērtē profesionālo pasākumu tirgus, to apjomu un apmeklētāju skaitu.
nodaļā paskaidrota pētījuma metodoloģija, uzņēmums “The Crowd SIA”, pasākumu
tirgus un ideālā klienta profila kritēriji. Trešajā nodaļā ir pētījuma rezultāti, salīdzināti
pasākumu tirgi, novērtēta ideālā klienta profila atbilstība un pētījuma hipotēze.
Pētījums secina, ka pasākumu tirgus Apvienotajā Karalistē visvairāk atbilst
“The Crowd SIA” ideālā klienta profila kritērijiem.
