- Otrā kursa darba ietvaros bakalaura darba autore veica pētījumu par Latvijas vēstniecības Francijā lomu latviešu kultūras identitātes saglabāšanā, kura gaitā iepazinās ar Latvijas vēstniecības Francijā un ārlietu resora vēsturi, kā arī ar nacionālās identitātes jēdzienu globalizācijas kontekstā un vēstniecības ieguldījumu latviskās identitātes popularizēšanā laika posmā no 2013. līdz 2015. gadam. Kaut sākotnēji bija iecerēts līdzšinējo pētījumu attīstīt emigrācijas un latviskās identitātes līdzpastāvēšanas virzienā, papildus iepazīstoties ar Latviešu apvienības Francijā darbību šajā jomā, bakalaura darba ietvaros tika izlemts padziļināti pētīt vēstniecības darbības atjaunošanas periodu un pirmās vēstnieces Ainas Nagobads-Ābols darbību.

- Le but de cette étude est de fournir une vue d'ensemble de la réouverture de l'Ambassade de Lettonie en France en 1991 et d'étudier les réalisations et les difficultés que Aina Nagobads-Abols a rencontrées en tant qu’Ambassadrice de Lettonie en France. Successivement, une évaluation de son rendement au travail est faite en conformité avec les trois fonctions de l'Ambassadeur les plus importantes déterminées par la législation de la République de Lettonie. Agissant en qualité du consul honoraire déjà depuis 1990 et travaillant comme Ambassadrice jusqu'en 1997, Nagobads-Ābols a fondé des contacts diplomatiques importants à l'échelle nationale, a organisé des visites des responsables français et lettons, tout en prenant soin de l'image de la Lettonie et en travaillant sur le renforcement de l'Etat letton dans le cadre de la restauration de l'indépendance. Elle a réussi à améliorer les relations diplomatiques après 50 ans d'inactivité depuis la Seconde Guerre mondiale, ainsi que de récupérer les biens d'avant-guerre de la Lettonie, ce qui a contribué à la stabilisation de la monnaie nationale. Ses réalisations comprennent l'élaboration de cooperation Lettonie-France politique et culturelle. Afin d'établir des relations diplomatiques importantes, Nagobads-Abols a utilisé les compétences qu'elle avait acquises lors de l'exécution dans les affaires et pendant les longues années de vie en France: compromis et négociation, approche personelle et moins formelle pour aboutir à des résultats positifs, connaissance de la culture, de la société et de la langue françaises. La recherche conclut que Aina Nagobads-Ābols a travaillé conformément aux fonctions d'un Ambassadeur, fournissant une contribution importante et diversifiée aux relations lettones-françaises.
- Abstract (english):
- The purpose of this study is to provide an overview of the reopening of the Embassy of Latvia in France in 1991 and to explore the achievements and difficulties that Aina Nagobads-Ābols encountered as Ambassador of Latvia to France. Successively, an assessment of her work performance is done in accordance with the three most important Ambassador’s duties determined by the legislation of the Republic of Latvia. Acting as honorary consul already since 1990 and working as an Ambassador until 1997, Nagobads-Ābols founded nationally significant diplomatic contacts, organized visits of both French and Latvian officials, taking care of the image of Latvia and strengthening the Latvian statehood in the context of restoration of independence. She managed to improve the diplomatic relations after 50 years of inactivity since the Second World War, as well as to recover Latvia’s pre-war property, contributing to stabilisation of the national currency. Her achievements include developing Latvia-France both political and cultural cooperation. In order to establish diplomatically significant relations, Nagobads-Ābols used skills she had acquired while performing in business and long-term living in France: compromise and negotiation, personal and less formal approach to achieve positive results, knowledge of French culture, society and language. The research concludes that Aina Nagobads-Ābols has operated in conformity with duties of an Ambassador, providing a large and diverse contribution to the Latvian-French relations.
