- Sieviete ar diviem bērniem – zēnu un meiteni – šūpojas lielās šūpolēs Memmingenē (amerikāņu zonā). Sieviete un meitene ir ģērbušās tautastērpos, zēns – uzvalkā. Abi bērni ar abām rokām ir pieķērušies šūpoļu malām. Fonā vairākas ēkas un gruveši; uz vienas ēkas jumta ir cilvēks. Pirmā no labās: Dagnija (Ann) Gailis.

- My wife, her sister and their mother were in a D.P Camp in Memmingen Germany in 1949. They were also located in Bishoftenitz (now Horsovsky Tyn Czech Republic) although we were led to believe that they were not in a DP camp there, but billetted out to local people. My wife's name was Dagnija Gailis (1942-2011), her sister: Ruta Gailis, and their mother's name was Elza Gails (1917-2010). The father/husband was Arvids Gailis, and he died from TB in the sanitorium in Gauting, near Munich in 1947. Arvids Gailis is buried in Memmingen Waldfriedhof. We would like to upload some photos to your wonderful site. we would also like to try and find the location of the DP camp in Memmingen. My son and I recently visited Memmingen, and whilst the local council was very helpful, there was a little confusion on the exact location of the DP camp. We have some photos showing a disused public swimming pool, and we were told that some streets near the waldfriedhof and airport were labelled with Latvian names i.e. Riga weg. Could you help?
