Mūsdienu Rietumu kultūrtelpā, globalizācijas un multikulturālisma dominantes apstākļos arvien aktuālākas kļūst dažādas kolektīvās identitātes formas un izpausmes. Latvijā identitātes jautājums vēsturisko apstākļu dēļ ir īpaši nozīmīgs. Latviešu kultūras identitātes attīstību dažādos vēstures periodos ietekmēja vairākas tautas, piem., vācieši, krievi, zviedri, poļi un citi. 19.gs. otrajā pusē un 20.gs. sākumā tagadējās Baltijas1 teritorijā līdzās pastāvēja divas spēcīgas, tomēr valodas un kultūras ziņā atšķirīgas kopienas – latviešu/ igauņu (vairākums) un vācbaltiešu (mazākums), kur dominējošās pozīcijas īpaši politiskajā un ekonomiskajā līmenī ieņēma vācbaltieši. Vācbaltiešiem (die Deutschbalten, pašnosaukumā: baltieši, balti)2 bija liela ietekme arī uz latviešu kultūru un tās attīstību. Velkot paralēles ar šodienas situāciju Latvijas un Igaunijas kultūras telpā, kur koeksistē latviešu/ igauņu un krievvalodīgo kopienas, tā laika Baltijas vāciešus var salīdzināt ar mūsdienu Latvijas/Igaunijas krieviem. Mūsdienās vācbaltieši funkcionē kā uz kultūru balstītā diaspora un ir tipisks interkulturālisma un transkulturālisma fenomens. Tas, kādā veidā viņi organizē savas nemateriālās kultūras mantojuma funkcionēšanu, kā arī tas, kā viņi nodrošina savas kultūras artefaktu saglabāšanu, var kļūt par labas prakses piemēru citām 21.gs. mazākumtautībām. Maģistra darba autore, pati starpkultūru vidē izaugusi, jau vairāk nekā trīs gadus regulāri organizējot un piedaloties dažādos vācbaltiešu biedrību organizētajos pasākumos, izvēlējās pievērsties vācbaltiešu identitātes saglabāšanās faktoru analīzei.

Anotācija (vācu):

Der Titel der vorliegenden Masterarbeit lautet: „Die Bewahrungsfaktoren der deutschbaltischen Identität in den deutschbaltischen Vereinen und Organisationen” (“The factors of the maintenance of the identity of the Baltic Germans in the German-Baltic societies and organisations”). Der Hauptzweck der Masterarbeit war es, zu untersuchen, wie sich die deutschbaltische Identität in den deutschbaltischen Organisationen Deutschlands, Lettlands und Estlands im 21. Jahrhundert äußert, gepflegt und bewahrt wird. Die Untersuchung orientierte sich im Wesentlichen an der Kontextanalyse und Interpretation der Ergebnisse der im Jahre 2016 unter den Mitgliedern der deutschbaltischen Organisationen durchgeführten Umfrage und der gewonnenen Erkenntnisse der teilnehmenden Beobachtung, wobei die Fragen, die mit Identität, kollektivem Bewusstsein, kollektivem Gedächtnis, Selbstbild und Fremdbild verbunden sind, besonders berücksichtigt werden. Von dem Hauptzweck ausgehend, werden in der Forschungsarbeit die folgenden Fragen gestellt:  Was sind die wesentlichen und einigenden Elemente der deutschbaltischen Identität, die sich in den deutschbaltischen Gesellschaften Lettlands, Estlands und Deutschlands offenbaren?  Welche Identitätstypen und Identitätsaspekte manifestieren sich in den deutschbaltischen Vereinen, und wie transformieren sie sich im Laufe der Zeit?  Mit welchen Faktoren ist die Transformierung der kollektiven Identität der in den deutschbaltischen Organisationen engagierten Deutschbalten verbunden?  Welche Elemente bilden die Kulturidentität der Mitglieder der deutschbaltischen Gesellschaften Lettlands, Estlands und Deutschlands im 21.Jahrhundert aus?  Auf welche Art und Weise und mit welchen Mitteln wird die Kulturidentität der Deutschbalten in den deutschbaltischen Organisationen Lettlands, Estlands und Deutschlands heutzutage gepflegt und bewahrt?  Welches Selbstbild der Deutschbalten äußert sich in den deutschbaltischen Vereinen und wie transformiert es sich im Laufe der Zeit?  Ob und wie unterscheidet sich die Struktur der deutschbaltischen Organisationen Lettlands, Estlands und Deutschlands? Die Forschung erfolgte auf der Basis der Theorien und Konzepte der Kulturanthropologie sowie der interkulturellen Kommunikation. Als Forschungsmethode wurde die qualitative Inhaltsanalyse und Interpretation der Umfrageergebnisse und der teilnehmenden Beobachtung gewählt. Bei der Analyse und Interpretation der erworbenen Erkenntnisse wurden geschichtliche, analytische sowie vergleichende Aspekte berücksichtigt. Die kulturelle Identität der geforschten deutschbaltischen Kulturgruppe wird mit Hilfe den kulturanthropologischen Konzepte und Kategorien von Clifford Geertz und anderen Kulturwissenschaftler untersucht.

Anotācija (angļu):

The title of this master thesis is “The factors of the maintenance of the identity of the Baltic Germans in the German-Baltic societies and organisations”. The main purpose of the master paper was to study how the identity of the Baltic Germans manifests itself in the German-Baltic societies and organizations in Germany, Latvia and Estonia. The research is mainly based on the analysis and the interpretation of the content of the results of the survey that was carried out in some German-Baltic organizations in the beginning of 2016 and participant observations that had been made by the author during the last 3 years, considering the issues connected with identity, collective consciousness, collective memory, self-image and external image (public image). The following questions have been raised in the framework of the study:  What are the main and unifying elements of the identity of the Baltic Germans that reveal themselves in the German-Baltic societies and organizations?  What types and aspects of identity appear in the German-Baltic societies and how they transform themselves in the course of historical events?  Which factors and historical events have brought to the transformation of the collective identity of the members of the German-Baltic societies?  What are the elements forming the cultural identity of the researched German-Baltic communities?  In which way and with which mechanisms the cultural identity of the Baltic Germans is being retained and maintained in the German-Baltic organizations?  Which self-image of the Baltic Germans manifests itself in the German-Baltic societies and how does it transform in the course of time?  Whether and if so, in which way does the structure and functions of the researched German-Baltic organizations differ in Germany, Latvia and Estonia? The study has been performed on the basis of the theories of cultural anthropology and intercultural communication. The method applied to the research was the content analysis and interpretation of the results of the survey carried out within the German-Baltic organizations and participant observations during the last 3 years. Historical, analytical and comparative aspects have been taken into consideration in the analysis and interpretation of the novels. The cultural identity of the Baltic Germans that is has been brought out in the researched German-Baltic organizations had been analysed using the concepts and categories of the cultural anthropologist Clifford Geertz and other scholars of cultural studies.
