Rakstā aplūkots 1824.gadā dibinātās Latviešu literārās biedrības (Lettisch-Litärische Gesellschaft) rakstu krājuma „Magazin, herausgegeben von der Lettisch-Literärischen Gesellschaft” (turpmāk „Magazin”) ieguldījums latviešu valodā publicētās dzejas jomā laikposmā no 1828. gada, kad klajā nāca izdevuma 1. sējums līdz 1855. gadam, kas noslēdz latviešu literatūras attīstības senāko posmu.
The author investigates the contribution of the publication Magazin („Magazin, herausgegeben von der Lettisch-Literärischen Gesellschaft”) of Latvian Literary Society (Lettisch-Litärische Gesellschaft) to Latvian poetry from year 1828, when the first volume was published, to year 1855, when the end of the ancient stage of Latvian literature can be marked. The publication promoted the collaboration between writers in Kurzeme and Vidzeme. It reduced the differences in literature in various regions of Latvia and facilitated the development of undivided literary space. It had great importance for the writers from Vidzeme since at that time they did not have any another possibilities to publish their works. The Magazin not only enriched the Latvian literature with the translated poetry, but also added to the typological aspects: 1) there were publications that were oriented towards the research (bilingual publications, translations done by different authors of the same writing), 2) it also established contemporary children poetry by supporting the pedagogical activities of pastors from Vidzeme, who contributed greatly not only to the acquirement of proficiencies and skills, but also to knowledge and spiritual values.
